This official Privacy and Security Statement is designed to help you understand what information we gather and how we use it. In our continuing effort to improve the services we provide to our customers, Pacuare River Lodge. will continue to implement new technologies from time to time. As a result, this policy is subject to change without prior notice. We encourage you to review our policies periodically.

PRIVACY POLICY

INFORMATION WE GATHER

When you join a Pacuare River Lodge Trip, we collect and store your personal and transactional information in our customer database. This information is generally used to process your transactions, respond to your requests, and improve the quality of your travel in Costa Rica.

AGGREGATE DATA AND INFORMATION USAGE

In addition to personal information, we collect and store information about the products purchased by channel and the pages viewed by all of our website visitors. We then use this data in aggregate form to identify overall customer behavior patterns. Our goal in using this information is to improve your experience at Pacuare River Lodge by being more responsive to the needs and preferences of our customers.

Our Web servers automatically collect information about each visitor who requests Pacuare River Lodge Web pages, including your computer's internet protocol (IP) address. This IP address allows us to identify your computer on the internet so that the Web content you request from us can be sent to you.

ONLINE ORDER INFORMATION

We request an e-mail address during the order process so that we can send an e-mail confirmation message acknowledging the receipt of your purchase. This message contains your name, address, the trip you purchased, an order reference number, and additional trip preperation information. Please note that this confirmation e-mail does not contain your credit card number.

In order to register for a Pacuare River Lodge trip, we ask you to provide the following information:

* First and last name—We require this information in order to differentiate your registration from others at Pacuare River Lodge.
* Mailing address—We store your mailing address for you so that we can communicate trip confirmations and general trip information.
* E-mail address—This allows us to send you an e-mail confirming your trip registration and payment. It also allows us to send you a new account password by e-mail should you forget yours.
* Daytime phone number—We require a phone number in case there is a problem with your registration or there is a need to clarify information. We will not telemarket to you, nor will we provide your telephone number to any other entity for telemarketing purposes.
* User Name and Password—We require a unique User ID and Password combination for every customer who uses our online registration website. This information allows you to securely access your registration information. If you forget your password, we can send a new one to the e-mail address supplied in your profile, at your request.
* Birth date—We use the age of customers to better understand trip expectations and logistical planning
* Passport and Expiration Date — The Costa Rican Migration Authority requires all hotels to provide customer identification numbers of room occupants. We ask for the expiration date to ensure your passport does not expire during the duration of your travel in Costa Rica.
* Personal Medical Information—Information such as height, weight, allergies, medications, historic muscular/skeletal problems, doctors care, and general heath conditions, among other data, are used to provide a superior level of safety and security for our customers. The nature of adventure travel requires guides to take our clients to remote areas where emergency medical services are limited. This medical information is provided to Pacuare River Lodge staff and guides to provide better medical response and logistical preparation in the event of an emergency.

CLICK-STREAM DATA (AND COOKIE TECHNOLOGY)

In order to register with Pacuare River Lodge' websites, your browser must be set to accept "cookies." A cookie is a small piece of data housed in a text file or folder on your computer's hard drive that helps us recognize you when you visit our sites. The only personal information our Pacuare River Lodge cookie can contain is information that you supply yourself. Our cookies cannot read data from other parts of your computer.

As stated above, you must enable cookies on your Web browser for our website to function correctly. Pacuare River Lodge may initiate communication to a customer to request or clarify information. Pacuare River Lodge does not sell or exchange our client's names or contact information.

Any link included does not imply or convey endorsement of the other company or organization, its site, or its products or services. Pacuare River Lodge is not responsible for the privacy, terms of use, or other policies of any other website.

Cancellation Policy & Security Statement

Guests who have made a deposit and need to postpone their trip due to an illness, emergency, or personal reason, and maintain their deposit with Pacuare River Lodge, may rebook their trip at no charge within a year. For guests who have paid for their trip and need to cancel, Pacuare River Lodge will refund:

46+ days prior to trip start day 80%
31-45 60%
1-30 50%

SECURITY STATEMENT

Pacuare River Lodge employs industry-leading technologies to store sensitive information and protect it while in transit over the Internet. The following Security Statement describes the technologies we use and provides additional details about how we handle sensitive data like personal and credit card information.

THE TRANSMISSION OF SENSITIVE DATA

To provide secure transmission, Pacuare River Lodge employs Secure Sockets Layer technology (SSL) on those pages that involve sensitive information such as personal information and credit card numbers. SSL, which is supported by a vast majority of Internet browsers available today, is the most commonly employed method of secure, encrypted communication used on the Internet. SSL protects information en route to us. Our credit card processing is secured with Verisign™ certificate technology and our secure database connection is secured by GeoTrust™. This technology helps ensure that Pacuare River Lodge and our clients are the actual recipient of information submited and retrieved.

Privacy Policy Changes

This Privacy Policy replaces all previous disclosures we may have provided you about our information practices. We reserve the right to change this policy and to apply any changes to previously collected information as permitted by law.
