Rio Tenorio

Churning past the slopes of the Tenorio Volcano for 15 thrilling miles, the Tenorio River is one of Guanacaste’s must-do Whitewater experiences. In Between the many class III and IV rapids, you can gaze in wonder at the lush Tropical Jungle and look for Sloth, Monkeys and Tropical Birds in the Forest Canopy.

Tenorio River Class III – IV

If you are ready for an adventure, then test your courage on the rolling rapids of the Upper Tenorio River in Guanacaste. A lot of excitement awaits you when you turn through twists. You can expect 8 miles of intense, challenging rapids. The Tenorio River has everything an adventurer wants, including a unique Class V 12-foot case! The Guanacaste region is characterized by a pronounced dry tropical climate and is largely undetected by most visitors. Nevertheless, it offers breathtaking natural treasures – including seven national parks and three wildlife sanctuaries, making this region a magical place to enjoy the wildlife and the landscape of the Tenorio.

Tour Description Tenorio River Tour

We meet at Rincon Corobicí restaurant in Cañas. Please be punctual so we can have all the fun during this one day tour. From here you will go to the river, half an hour from the restaurant. Your guide team will provide the safety equipment (rescue vest, helmets and paddles), along with a river safety orientation. The ride on the river takes about 2 ½ hours and includes a snack at the end: fresh fruits, biscuits, natural drinks and water are served. After the snack, you have a 55-minute drive to the Rincon Corobicí restaurant, where you can enjoy a delicious warm lunch.

Corobici River (Floating) Class I – II

Share the incredible wildlife of Costa Rica with the whole family on this gentle river tour down the Corobicí River. Located in the heart of the province of Guanacaste, the Corobicí is a wide and fast flowing Class I and II river with moderate but gentle waves. The tour is ideal for all ages, safe enough for kids (7+) and gentle enough for the elderly. Nature lovers and birdwatchers appreciate the lush vegetation and lush wildlife in this tropical dry forest. Along the tour you have plenty of opportunities to observe many animals: white-haired monkeys, coatises, iguanas and otters. You can also see some of the 300 bird species that inhabit the nearby Palo Verde National Park: wood stork, kingfishers, herons, white Ibis and many, many more. All this can be seen in the trees along the banks of the Corobicí and Tenorio rivers.

While you paddle comfortably on this quiet river, you can see some of the more than 300 bird species from the nearby Palo Verde National Park. Our experienced bilingual guides will identify the tropical flora and fauna on this unforgettable and unique tour. Our journey begins in the gardens of Rincon Corobicí, our headquarters. This river flows for about 2 hours and includes: paddling, lifejackets, safety kayak. Your guide will guide you down the river as you relax and enjoy the emerald green forest and exotic fauna. Enjoy lunch at Rincon Corobicí restaurant after the tour is finished.
