Pacuare River Class III – IV

The Pacuare River is located on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, bordering the Talamanca mountain chain. It is home to the native Cabecar Indians and an incredible variety of wildlife including parrots, toucans, deer, jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, butterflies and more. Here you can enjoy it´s exciting class III-IV whitewater rapids and have a tropical adventure packed with rich experiences.

Tour description

If you dream of rafting on a wild tropical river with warm water, the celadon-colored Pacuare will be a dream come true! Here, as one of the top rivers in the world, you will experience the intimate nature of the rainforest while you enjoy 19 miles of class III-IV whitewater. The warm water, the cascading waterfalls and the lush rain forest with brilliantly colored plants, animals and birds will spoil your senses on every level.

Pacuare River Tour Description

The Sarapiqui River flows down between the mountains of Braulio Carrillo National Park and Poas Volcano. Similarly to the Pacuare River, the Sarapiqui is surrounded by incredible and endless tropical nature. This makes the two rivers very attractive, not only because they both offer amazing whitewater rapids, but also because of their surrounding tropical jungles and flora and fauna. Sarapiqui, like the Pacuare River is also incredibly clean.

General Tour Description

These rapids are technically challenging and their rushing waves will sweep you down the river. Your expert guides will give you excellent guidance while navigating these rivers. This tour starts with an overview of the equipment and important safety instructions. Then you will enter the river, start floating through the rapids and paddle past Costa Rica’s extraordinary jungle landscapes. Halfway through the tour you will stop at a riverbank for some refreshments and tropical fruits. At the end of the trip, you will get a cold drink and a towel before heading to a nearby restaurant for a typical Costa Rican lunch. There is a place for you to change into dry clothes before you eat.

Sarapiqui Section III – IV San Miguel Tour Description

If whitewater is your passion and you are looking for a new challenge, jump on the raft with us for an adrenaline-packed ride through the San Miguel section of the Sarapiquí River. This class III-IV section of the river has continuous rapids, lush rainforest walls, and endless waterfalls awaiting you. You will paddle through more than 30 rapids (many of which are rated class IV) while enjoying the splendidly clean, sparkling waters of one of the most beautiful rivers in Costa Rica! This trip is suited for experienced paddlers and the minimum age requirement is 12 years old. The trip ends at a location called Sibaja family property. Here you can shower in a private household, change and prepare for lunch in a local restaurant (also called a soda).

Sarapiqui Lower Section Class II – III La Virgen Tour Description

The La Virgen section of the Sarapiquí River is rated class II-III and begins in La Virgen village. This section of the river provides an excellent selection of class II-III rapids such as The Canyon, Confusion, Air Force and many more. This is an excellent choice for beginners and families who seek a safer adventure while still experiencing scenic beauty; however, it is is enjoyable for all levels of paddlers. Flora and fauna typical of the rainforest lowlands, breathtaking views of tropical birds and lush jungle landscapes, surround the river. Along the 14 km trail, the crystal clear waters and the continuous Class II & III rapids provide an unforgettable experience for any rafting enthusiast. Make sure to relax in the shallow pools between the rapids!
